Dreamers is our ongoing cocktail hour where everyone is cool enough to get in. We laugh, tell stories, sip and simply try to "human better together".

On this night we offered a "Holiday Survival Guide" of sorts with tips on how not to "lose it" on friends and family during this "most magical time of the year". We hope you enjoy it.

We recently held our first ever Dreamers Storytellers event at the Renaissance Brewing Co. in Tulsa, OK.  Speakers were given five minutes, no notes and the theme of "Falling In or Out of Love. It was quiet a night.

    Here's how it went:

    "Saying goodbye to Princess"

"Sometimes love is no Laughing Matter"

"Love can go against your own pet-ferences"

    "Love is Dangerous"

How big a roll does communication play in creativity?  Or in happiness?  Or our overall well-being?

I'm so glad you asked.  Lisa Roll is a mind and body therapist at Samaritan Counseling.  This month on Conversate, we talk about the value of communication, the pitfalls of bad communication, how to say what you mean and how communicate more effectively.  Here are some of the highlights:

We throw the word "legendary" around a lot, but in the case of Bill Kurtis (an "Anchorman who was more man than the rest") the term certainly fits.

He's stared down tornadoes, rubbed elbows with Charles Manson, read the evening news to America, solved Cold Cases, been the voice of the "Anchorman" movies, found the internet for AT&T and been a friend for the last 15 years.  He was gracious enough to join Conversate and we talked news, the military, pandemics and career paths for over an hour.  We're only including twenty minutes here, because...well you're just not prepared for that much Bill Kurtis; your brain might explode.

    Here's some highlights:

This month on "Conversate" we look at The Value of Being Wrong.

Perhaps nothing kills creativity quite like fear. Living in fullness requires "openness." We have to be open to other perspectives, other facts, other people, other points of view...we even have to be open to being wrong.

Some of the most liberating/creative/prosperous places in life begin with, "I was wrong."

Check out the discussion below and weigh in.  Have you ever been wrong about something and then when you realized it, it was actually liberating?

What comes to mind when I bring up the word “creativity?”  Artists?  Maybe writers or filmmakers or designers? People who seem to have a sixth sense for seeing things in a different way? Or maybe people who are a bit manic, so infused with passion and ideas that they can scarcely hold still or negotiate the regularities of life lest it get in the way of their “art?”

In my experience creativity is more than that.  I also believe creativity is for everyone, not just a precious anointed few.

As part of our conversation about "The Practice of Creativity," we visited with actor+writer+producer, Marilyn Camacho in LA.

“For me it’s, what you said, it’s getting quiet. Right? It’s getting quiet.  It’s kinda sitting with yourself and turning off the TV, turning off the phone, turning off anything that is going to distract you in the moment…”

In our conversation about "The Practice of Creativity," we spoke with Russell Vaclaw, District Judge+OK.

“The goal should be - What is best for all concerned, what is best for our community and it’s not just cycling through the same people and sending them off to prison over and over again where they come out and they’ve just become better criminals.”
